What are the steps for making Aleppo soap?
What are the steps for making Aleppo soap?
The process of making Aleppo soap takes about 6 months! crazy right? The steps of making this ancient soap hasn’t changed in centuries.
It all starts by cooking olive and laurel oils in a cauldron, a process that takes around 2 days.
On the 3rd day, we start start filling wide channels with the hot liquid soap we’ve been cooking for the past 48 hours.
After letting the green liquid rest and solidfy for about 12 hours, we start cutting it to the shape of cubes and stamp each cube with our authentic logo in arabic that translates to (Dar Najar).
Later on we start collecting those green cubes and placing them on pallets in the shape of a pyramid to let them rest for the next 6 months!
During this long period of time the soap goes through the cold, spring and hot weathers to rest and lose most of its water, hence the soap ends up looking asymmetric.
